Steam Requirement Calculator

Mass flow rate of the fluid to be heated
Heat capacity of the fluid
Starting temperature of the fluid
Target temperature of the fluid
Steam pressure at the heat exchanger inlet
Thermal efficiency of the heat exchanger

Calculation Explanation

This page calculates the required steam mass flow rate for heating a fluid. First, the heat duty (Q) is found by multiplying the fluid's mass flow rate, specific heat capacity, and the desired temperature change. Then, the required steam mass flow rate is calculated by dividing this heat duty by the usable enthalpy change of the steam (difference between incoming steam enthalpy and outgoing condensate enthalpy), adjusted for heat exchanger efficiency.
